At our upcoming event, we’ll take a play from the Wisconsin Herd marketing team to get insight into how to create enthusiastic and engaged brand fans through grassroots movements, promotions, and new media activity.
How do you create enthusiastic fans of your brand? The Wisconsin Herd caters to a variety of fans including basketball enthusiasts, the business community, and families. At this event, Scott Jensen, Director of Marketing & Digital for the Wisconsin Herd,will share how in just two years, the team has engaged fans into sellout crowds. Scott will talk about his experience in sports marketing, share some best-in-class examples of grassroots movements, present the Wisconsin Herd’s new media strategy and how the Herd reaches their potential fans effectively. He’ll also talk a little about promotional products and theme nights.
About the Wisconsin Herd
The Wisconsin Herd began playing in 2017-18 as the Milwaukee Bucks, NBA G League affiliate. The NBA G League is the NBA’s official minor league, preparing players, coaches, officials, trainers, and front-office staff for the NBA while acting as the league’s research and development laboratory. The Wisconsin Herd has featured NBA assignment players like Sterling Brown, D.J. Wilson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Christian Wood in its first two seasons! Fans can see the players of tomorrow, TODAY! With a first-rate game production, fans experience non-stop action between game breaks and timeouts. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!
About the Presenter
Scott Jensen Following a three-year stint as the Sales & Marketing Director for Appleton Ice, Inc., Scott Jensen became the Director of Marketing & Digital for the Wisconsin Herd in October 2018.
Prior to joining the Wisconsin Herd staff, Jensen worked for University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Athletics during the 2012-13 school year. There, he led the game day operations staff and helped launch the I AM A TITAN marketing campaign. The football team enjoyed its most successful season since the 1976 campaign when it won its last WIAC title, and reached the 2012 NCAA semi-finals. Marketing and promotion of the team’s success not only helped with selling more tickets it also led to increased earned media on all local cable TV in the Fox Valley.
At the Boys & Girls Club of the Tri-County Area, he assisted the board of directors in commencing a $4 million capital campaign in Berlin, WI, and securing a $2 million trust fund. The club’s annual auction gala in 2015 netted more than $290,000, exceeding its goal by more than 29%. He moved on to Appleton Ice, Inc., where he steered marketing and fundraising efforts that led to the organization receiving the Community Service Award from the Fox West Chamber of Commerce and the Exemplary Marketing Award, Small Business, from the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce. Jensen was recognized as the Champion of the Chamber in 2018.
As the Director of Marketing & Digital for the Wisconsin Herd, Jensen oversees the social media accounts, advertising decisions, and graphic design for in-game and advertising use. The social media accounts include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Pointer, the team mascot.
